Abstract:
Considers investigations at the Iron Age ringwork. The site has been radiocarbon dated to between the fourth and second centuries BC. Trenches have failed to reveal evidence of internal settlement, however one did locate a major eastern entrance, which featured a substantial tower-like gateway. The basal fills of the ditch terminal proved to be waterlogged and a quantity of contemporary leatherwork was recovered. Fieldwalking has recovered Late Roman pottery from across much of the enclosure and to the north-east beyond its circuit. Includes separately authored reports on:
