Abstract:
Building recording and an archaeological excavation were undertaken at a former boat builder's yard in advance of development. The excavation revealed a complex stratigraphic sequence of construction and refurbishment events with thirteen phases relating to the use and occupation of the site, starting in the late 17th/early 18th century. It was clear that this section of the river Dee defences was constantly reviewed with repairs and alterations being made to the superstructure. LD
