Abstract: Grimes introduces his paper by stating that he has 'tried not to give a catalogue of finds or sites, but to summarise our prehistory in terms of the successive cultures of which it is composed.' The paper works through from geological and topographical descriptions of Wales to human occupation and cultures to the end of the Iron Age. Illustrated with distribution maps, plans of sites and fine photographs of objects.
