Abstract:
In recent years archaeological excavations in the village of Eynsham in Oxfordshire have revealed much of the remains of the Benedictine abbey that once stood there, and evidence of settlement going back 3,000 years. The history and the archaeology have been combined in the story of the village and its abbey. The booklet is a companion to the Oxford Archaeology monograph, Aelfric's Abbey.
