Abstract: |
"Interest in and involvement with soils is inherent in the practice of archaeology". The book describes the materials and processes of soil, particularly as encountered by the archaeologist. It is emphasised that soil processes continue long after deposition of a layer, that pits and ditches need particular care in interpretation, and that sampling must be done with intelligent appreciation of the information that may be expected. |
