Abstract: |
Survey of factual material and construction of a synthesis which is deliberately descriptive rather than viewed through imposed models. After an introduction outlining the historical development of Iron Age studies in Britain, a chronological and regional treatment underlines minor points of difference from one area or period to another. The second part of the book is concerned with the broader mechanisms of economy and society. Representative selections from the major groups of pottery are illustrated and a list of radiocarbon dates is provided. For reviews, see Times Lit Suppl, 19 Apr 1974; and M Avery in Ir Archaeol Res Forum, 1(1), 1974, 59-64. |
