Abstract: |
Catalogue of an exhibition to mark the half-centenary of the Abercromby Chair of Archaeology. Over ninety items culled from the University Library's collection of manuscripts and printed books, together with a few additional items, are described and twenty are illustrated. Reflecting Abercromby's own interests, the exhibition concentrated on prehistory and showed changing attitudes and preoccupations over the three centuries from Buchanan's Rerum Scoticarum Historia (1582) to Abercromby's testament laying down the requirements for holders of the Abercromby Chair. |
