The objects and general principles of typological studies are considered and there are chapters on the major arches, doorways and windows, belfry-openings, towers, string courses, pilaster strips, hood mouldings and strapwork, quoins, walls, plinths and foundations, plans, volumes and interior spaces, decoration, roofs, floors, furnishings and dating.
