The third volume brings together threads from the previous two, provides a complete list of AS churches, and discusses both primary and secondary evidence for AS workmanship. The objects and general principles of typological studies are considered and there are chapters on the major arches, doorways and windows, belfry-openings, towers, string courses, pilaster strips, hood mouldings and strapwork, quoins, walls, plinths and foundations, plans, volumes and interior spaces, decoration, roofs, floors, furnishings and dating. |
