Abstract: |
Since thc previous edition some three hundred new books and papers on the period have been taken into account. 'All sections of the book have been revised and updated, but some aspects of the subject are developing more rapidly than others and have called for more extensive revision'. In particular hillfort studies have advanced, and fieldwork in hitherto 'blank' areas like Essex and the Midlands has turned up quantities of new evidence; coin evidence has also required reconsideration. |
