Abstract:
The geographical area covered in this basic textbook runs from the Atlantic coast across into the Soviet Union and from Scandinavia to the Mediterrancan, divided into five regions for convenience. In the first half of the book the earlier Bronze Age is described for each region, and in the second half the same is done for the later BA. The approach is to describe the settlements, burials, ritual and religious sites, material culture, economic and social information, and trading patterns; but this is done in terms of common linking themes rather than by adopting a typological approach. The available radiocarbon dates for each region are listed and a substantial bibliography is provided.
