Abstract: |
Presentation for the general reader of the work of the Ancient Farm Research Project, giving preliminary results of many of the long- and short-term experiments being conducted there. Individual chapters cover the concept of the ancient farm, the houses, the livestock, crops, pit experiments, and data recovery, with a final chapter on the Demonstration Area containing the Pimperne house reconstruction. Many of the experiments have immediate implications for the interpretation of evidence recovered by excavation; indeed the methodology of excavation itself needs reassessment in the light of some of the experimental results. |
