Abstract:
The first comprehensive study of Suffolk tiles illustrates 157 designs grouped by subject: heraldic, animal, floral, and geometric designs. The earliest are Late Saxon from Bury St Edmunds. There may have been a kiln in E Suffolk, but many tiles came from the Bawsey kilns near Kings Lynn.
