Abstract: |
Animal bones on archaeological sites are usually analysed in terms of the economic evidence they provide: this book explores the value of studying the pathology of individual specimens with a view to tracing the history of disease and showing both how animals were treated and how they were employed. Evidence is cited from Britain, the Americas, and elsewhere, and covers a wide variety of soft tissue diseases as well as bone abnormalities. |
