Abstract:
[TA 0866]. Excavations following the lifting of mosaics for display were quite extensive but never completed, so this report merely records the observations and provides specialist reports on the material. The site was settled, before the Roman arrival, in a manner comparable with local 'droveway' settlements. The 2nd century was not attested in the excavated area, the first Romanized buildings being of 3rd century. A very large collection of post-360 pottery in a well was not represented elsewhere on the site and ploughing may have removed these layers. Finds reported include pottery, small finds, glass, coins, decorated building materials, mosaics, animal and human bones, and organic remains from the well.
