'Implications' report for an important Saxon town, founded in 7th century as one of the North Sea trading ports but, unlike most, developing into a medieval and modern town. A town bank and ditch date well before the first mention of defences in 1204. Work has begun on a survey of post-medieval timber-framed buildings and their development. |
