Abstract: |
The period covered runs from 7000 BC to AD 1000 (but Early Christian monuments are excluded). There is a focus of megalithic monuments in Kilmartin Valley, and the area's rock art makes an important contribution to European studies. Dunadd is the key site for Dalriadan settlement, recent excavations having illuminated its social and economic life. Also treated are chambered cairns, a henge, cairns and barrows, burials and cists, forts, duns, earthwork and enclosures, open settlements and hut circles, crannogs, and caves. |
