Abstract: |
Catalogue and discussion of the material, which includes Neo wares, collared urns and other EBA forms, bucket-shaped vessels of the Deverel-Rimbury tradition, late prehistoric, Roman, and later wares. There is no ceramic evidence for flint-mining before the Late Neo, and it was Grooved Ware users who made the main galleried shafts. A Dev-Rim settlement nearby practised mixed farming with dairy emphasis, but no settlement later than BA is attested, and no flint was extracted after Late Neo times. |
