The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 A desk-based assesment, followed by an ecological assessment, was undertaken of the hedges along Bishopton Lane prior to the Bishopton Lane Improvement. Bishopton Lane was part of an ancient public highway between Alcester and Warwick. The northern sections and a short length at the south end to the south-east had apparently undisturbed by recent developments and could be early, as the Lane could be traced back to 1061. The sections on either side of the railway bridge embankment were likely to have dated to the construction of the railway in 1859. Another section could be dated to the building of houses in the mid-later 19th century. Both the Bishopton and Shottery Enclosure Awards described Bishopton Lane as a public road and set out allotments belonging to individuals on either side. [Au(adp)]
