Abstract:
The evaluation demonstrated that archaeological features and deposits dating from the early medieval period and later were present within the site. Since the origins of Totnes were known to have been in the 10th century as one of four late-Saxon burhs in Devon the presence of an early medieval cultivation soil within the site was not surprising but was unexpected as the like had not been found within the town before.
