Abstract: |
The excavation of five trial trenches on a plot of land south of the east end of Coleman Street, within the area of the middle Saxon town, revealed two features of middle Saxon date. Quarrying for brick- earth, probably in the early 19th century, had heavily disturbed the northern and eastern parts of the site. However, the south-west quarter of the site was likely to have been well preserved Middle Saxon archaeology. [Au] |
