Abstract: |
Four trenches were excavated to examine anomalies identified by a geophysical survey as part of an evaluation of land adjacent to The Forge on the north side of Station Road. Although various earthworks and building platforms and field systems had been noted in adjacent fields, little evidence for early occupation was identified during the evaluation: two ditches representing old field or enclosure boundaries were identified and small number of Middle/Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds were recovered.
