Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the site of four London Underground tunnels beneath the River Thames was undertaken; reinforcement of the tunnels was proposed. Flint tools had been found in the surrounding area, and many prehistoric artefacts of flint, bronze and iron had been recovered from the Thames. Roman, early medieval and later medieval occupation had been recorded nearby. It was concluded that archaeological monitoring and sample work would be necessary. [AIP] |
