Abstract: |
<summary>A desk-based survey to assess the archaeological implications of the proposed improvement of the A303 between Chicklade Bottom and Mere established that the proposed road improvement would run through an important archaeological landscape, rich in sites of prehistoric, Roman and medieval date. Of the sites previously known, 14 were protected as Scheduled Ancient Monuments, another 96 were recorded on the County Sites and Monuments Record, and 10 comprised individual findspots of artefacts of Neolithic to Roman date. {italon}AIP{italoff}{spacea} |
