Abstract: |
The assessment identified that the site was likely to have been utilised for agricultural purposes throughout the medieval period, perhaps as part of an open field system. If so, it was probable that an undated enclosure adjacent to the site was of prehistoric or Roman origin. The proximity of the enclosure and nearby linear features suggested that archaeological deposits or features could be disturbed by the proposed development. However, the results of a geophysical survey, within the relatively small development area, indicated that any such features would not be of a substantial nature, and a specific 'target' area for further evaluation could not be identified.
