Abstract: |
The area of a supposed prehistoric encampment and its immediate environs were the subject of trial trenching and test-pitting, gradiometer and resistivity survey and contour and earthwork surveys. Results suggested that the earthworks owed their origin to the more recent past and were probably the result of sand quarrying during the last century or earlier. Finally, a geophysical and contour survey was undertaken on a site thought to represent a barrow, the results from which suggested the presence of a ditch around part of the site. [Au(abr)] |
