Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained during groundworks on the most recent structures and surfaces on the site. Some remains of earlier occupation were encountered. At the first level these comprised the foundations of 18th and 19th century cottages, outbuildings, and other structures or boundaries. Surviving in places beneath this horizon were the remains of pits, boundaries and possible structures or floors datable to the 12th-15th centuries, representing initial medieval tenement occupation in this part of Langport.
