Abstract: |
A rapid earthwork survey of forestry compartments in Croxton was carried out in order to identify whether any earthworks existed which would be affected by development, and would require protection from a planned programme of de-stumping. No earthworks thought to be of significance were observed in any compartments surveyed. The pits were probably post-medieval marl or chalk extraction pits. The ditch and bank were most likely related to former field systems predating the use of the land for forestry. [Au(adp)] |
