Abstract: |
Monitoring of the foundation trench systems revealed several archaeological features cutting into the natural clay. These consisted of drainage systems, ground dumps and levelling deposits relating to the construction of the stable yard area, indicating occupation of the site in the post-medieval period. Earlier features included an undated chalk constructed well and clay filled features of possible prehistoric date. A small quantity of artefacts including worked chalk and stone, ceramic brick material and a small assemblage of worked flints was also recovered. [Au(abr)] |
