Abstract: |
An excavation was carried out at the site of a vent shaft, constructed in connection with the London Underground Jubilee Line Extension. A shallow pit containing a fragment of bronze age loomweight was revealed. A possible Roman well and several pits were recorded. Late medieval pits, walls and a well were present, and a 17th century drain was found. Pottery and animal bones of Roman and medieval date, 16th century pottery and other finds were recovered.
