Abstract: |
The site was designated as of international significance for Palaeolithic archaeology. This investigation centred around the excavation of two test pits to evaluate whether tree-planting would affect archaeological remains. No significant deposits were found. Four soakaways were also positioned along the southern part of the site. No significant deposits were present there. Subsequent monitoring of the site revealed that no undisturbed Pleistocene deposits of any potential Palaeolothic archaeological significance were present, and had almost certainly been quarried away in the late 19th century.
