Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during alterations at 65 Toll Gavel, a Grade II* listed building of early 18th-century date. The site lay within the core of the historic town and it was considered that any groundworks in the area may encounter archaeological deposits. Remains of medieval and later date survived beneath the standing building and in the area behind. [AIP] |
