Abstract: |
As part of a restoration programme the National Trust commissioned an excavation to ascertain what existed on or below the floor level in an area around the tilt-hammers and their anvils within the foundry, a 19th century water-powered edge-tool works which produced agricultural hand tools for the mining and china clay industries. The excavation revealed evidence of a former wool-mill that previously stood on the site and features associated with the foundry. [AIP] |
