Abstract: |
A geophysical survey of the site had identified a number of positive and negative linear features, ferrous or debris spikes and possible hearths within the hospital grounds. As a consequence the area was extensively trial trenched to sample these features. Few, if any, of the possible features identified by geophysical survey were encountered during the evaluation. Two parallel ditches were identified, the function of which was uncertain and they contained no finds. They may have represented a possible trackway but were not recorded in any other trenches. Two tree hollows and a silted water channel were natural features and contained no finds. No archaeological finds were recovered.[Au(abr)] |
