Abstract: |
Twenty six trial trenches were excavated as a result of a planning application for tree planting. A number of 10th to 13th century features, consisting of a line of post holes and associated gullies, ditches and pits, were recorded at the south-western corner of the development area. The post holes and gullies possibly represented a substantial structure. There was a considerable amount of burnt material in the final phase of occupation, suggesting that the structure was destroyed by fire. A little residual Roman and prehistoric material was also recovered, probably eroded from the hilltop to the north. [Au(adp)] |
