Abstract: |
The opportunity arose for further investigation into the wreck site of a Second World War C-47 Dakota. A side scan sonar was used to further survey the extent of the wreck and a diving investigation was also undertaken. The dive demonstrated that the wreck site contained, in addition to the central wing section, coherent structure from the port wing, lower fuselage and associated fixtures and fittings. Although no human remains were identified their presence could not be discounted as it seemed likely that some lives were lost in the crash. [AIP] |
