Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during topsoil stripping and excavation of a pipe trench. The trench cut a hedge bank which was the parish boundary, however no buried soil or dating evidence was retrieved. A number of trial pits were dug to the side of the road leading to Gallows Cross, to ascertain the level of survival of archaeological deposits. None were encountered. Fieldwalking was carried out after topsoil stripping between Hackney Lane and Ware Cross, fifteen lithic tools were recovered. [Au(adp)] |
