Abstract: |
The excavation of a pit during construction works within the scheduled area of the outer bailey and ditch of the castle was observed. The pit appeared to have cut into the upper levels of infill within the castle moat to a depth of 0.80 metres. Pottery dating from the late 16th century were recovered from the lower contexts.
