Abstract: |
Two evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of proposed housing development. The site was located across the projected alignment of the Roman road that ran west from Londinium and crossed the Thames at Staines. No significant archaeological deposits were found. There were two main periods of activity on the site; the first was represented by a small flint assemblage in disturbed brickearth and the second by 17th to 18th century activity and modern buildings.
