Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the demolition of buildings and the construction of a new retail unit at the east gate of Old Sarum Castle, an iron age hillfort and Norman castle. Two palaeolithic handaxes had been found in the vicinity of the eastern entrance, and neolithic features had been recorded to the north-east. During the watching brief, no archaeological deposits or artefacts were observed. [Au(abr)] |
