Abstract: |
Trial trench excavation was undertaken on the proposed site of Sheffield Family Courts. This work followed a desk-based assessment which suggested that development of part of the site had begun in the second quarter of the 18th century. A total of seven trenches were excavated, specifically targeting areas both within and outside of the development area. The site was found to have been largely disturbed by buildings, demolition and cellarage over the last two centuries. No archaeological features or deposits that predated the 18th century were encountered. [Au(abr)] |
