Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken on the machine excavation of eight geotechnical investigation pits prior to the construction of a mixed-use development. Beneath the demolition rubble, Victorian garden soil was identified overlying various layers of clayey silt sub-soil over natural gravel. No archaeological finds were recorded in any of the investigation pits. Although the dates of the sub-soil deposits were not defined, it was unlikely that they were of an anthropogenic nature or contained material of environmental archaeological interest. [Au(abr)] |
