Abstract: |
While initial trenching indicated that a substantial structure associated with the glassworks may have been located, further investigation showed this to be incorrect. The combined results of the radar survey, trenching operation and geotechnical test pit monitoring indicated that much of the site had been subjected to considerable 19th and 20th century disturbance related to both domestic structures and commercial activity. Several brick structures of probable 18th century date, and possibly associated with glass-making activity were located and recorded. It was impossible to establish whether they were ever part of the Old Dial Glassworks. [Au(abr)] |
