Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken to oversee disturbance of the barrier bank during the flood defence improvement scheme. A cross-section through the monument revealed the bank to be the latest in a succession of earthworks making up the monument, the earliest being a succession of boundary ditches. No finds were recovered to provide dates for the various phases of construction, however, specialist dating from environmental samples retrieved may in part have dated at least one phase of construction.
