Abstract: |
The evaluation established the presence of truncated Iron Age and Romano-British archaeological features in four main areas across the site. Iron Age features associated with possible settlement were noted in the north-east and south-west corners of the site, while Romano-British rural activity dating from the 1st to 3rd centuries AD was found in the south-west, north-west and south-east corners. The Roman finds included two near complete Severn Valley Ware pottery vessels buried in small pits at the northern end and in the far south-east corner of the site. Scattered fragments of early Iron Age pottery and worked prehistoric flint were also noted in three of the trenches. [Au(abr)] |
