Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out at Aston Hall. Two trenches and two test pits were excavated. Excavation revealed that the wall of the privy gardens had been modified on several occasions. The lower brick courses of the original wall footing were laid in English Garden Wall bond and were built from sandstone foundations. This design was similar to that of the hall and parts of the northern service range that had been investigated previously. Subsequently the wall was underpinned and strengthened with concrete foundations. [Au(adp)] |
