Abstract: |
The assessment concluded that the proposed development area lay within the location of the medieval bar at Northgate. Wakefield bars were in existence by 1274 and marked the outer limits of the town. Legal records dating from the mid-17th century indicated that a house, and possibly ancillary buildings, existed within the development area of 101 Northgate. Other areas of the site were identified as potentially containing remnants of medieval and post-medieval Wakefield. [AIP] |
