Abstract: |
The site was located along the course of the Hadrian's Wall corridor, in the area of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of the Wall. Archaeological monitoring was conducted for an installation of an automatic number plate recognition camera on the Roman way, West Denton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The works included the excavation of a footing for the camera upright, and a duct trench to accommodate the power supply. The excavation of the plinth base revealed no archaeological features. The duct trench encountered a buried manhole cover at the eastern end of the trench of modern origin, however, no archaeological material was observed. [Au(adp)] |
