Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site within an Archaeological Priority Zone. The route of a medieval road passed nearby, and a house built by Edward II in 1325 had lain in the vicinity. During the evaluation, medieval ditches and dump layers containing 11th-12th century pottery were recorded. Later medieval and 16th century water channels and latrine pits were also found. 17th-18th century brick buildings, pits and surfaces were present. It was concluded that further sample areas should be excavated. [AIP] |
