Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of foundation trenches for two new buildings and was carried out in response to a condition upon planning consent. The trenches revealed the surface of river terrace deposits which was overlaid by subsoil. The subsoil was covered between 0.10m and 0.25m of post-medieval topsoil which contained occasional fragments of tile and oyster shell, a sherd of white-glazed pottery and a clay pipe stem. The soil was overlaid by successive dump layers and concrete floor slabs. No archaeological features were found. [Au(adp)] |
