Abstract: |
An extensive range of topographic and subsurface features were identified, most of which were associated with the medieval salt industry. The results included six ditch systems that were used to filter and channel seawater in towards hearth areas, where it was evaporated by boiling to produce salt. The fiedwork at Efford represented only the second investigation of a saltern site on the south coast of England.[Au(abr)] |
